Social Etiquette

The subject of personal hygiene is very sensitive, be it at work, social gathering, public or at college. The big question before us is how one can address the problems without embarrassing or hurting the feelings of those concerned. Also that the person who think is offended does not engage in the same offensive malady.

It is largely suggested that most people believe a lot of things can be done to encourage friends, workmates without tearing asunder the rapport, be it in the work place or at home.
Nose picking some investigation suggest that males have high habits of picking their nose. This seem to have its ancient roots in ancient time not only in Africa, but also in Europe.
It is disgusting and alienating especially when the individual sees it fit to eat whenever they have "dug out". Men are said to have developed this habit much more than women. At times your girlfriend will notice this and feel shy to tell you to use a handkerchief.

Different cultures have different ways of maintaining their health. Men and women have got different roles and expectation they are required to follow. At times a person can offend the table manners depending on the culture that he follows. Culture as define by Cumming et al as a totality of life transmitted from one generation to the other. Scholars like Fiske 1980 views "culture" as something that is ordinary. What one does be it at workplace, home, school or at church can be defined as culture.

Above all hygiene at times cuts across multiple of culture and needs to be preserved to enhance development. Human beings are different from animals because they have certain ways of upholding their hygiene. It is important all the times to maintain high standards of hygiene that can improve our lives

Improve Employee Motivation

You can't deny the fact that your organization works because of teamwork. The more the team works together harmoniously, the more successful your organization is. However, this is easier said than done. Many organizations fail because they are filled with unmotivated employees. If you have a problem with employee motivation, then take notice. A team that doesn't have employee motivation means that they have poor performance, which translates to bad business for you.

Improving the Motivation of Your Employees

- Build a good foundation at the start.
You improve motivation if you build a solid foundation at the beginning of your employee's career. Once the employee becomes a part of your organization, make sure that he is given an orientation of the history of your business and the mission and vision. Be aware also of his career expectations and goals and how you can make them feel as part of your team.

- Promote a positive environment in your organization.

A positive environment can always promote a positive outlook among employees. This means that you do not have preference over your other employees and you make all your employees feel important. Try to keep your doors open to all your staff, that they can approach you with problems and issues.

- Lead by example.

As a leader, you must lead by example. If you want your employees to come to work on time, then you should do the same. You communicate to your employees the things that you want by leading a good example and not simply talking about it.

- Make sure that your employees have a career path.

Employees always aim for career advancements and possibilities of promotion always improve employee motivation. You can work with your employees in charting their career growth plan taking into consideration their current skills and future goals. You will see how this would create magic among your employees' self-esteem.

- Be liberal with seminars and trainings.

You motivate your employees when you provide means to increase their professional skills through seminars and trainings. If there are possibilities of attending workshops and seminars related to your business, then offer these to them. If the employees feel that you are investing in them, they would feel cherished and would eventually improve their job performance.

- Let your employees have fun.

All work and no fun would make Jack a dull boy. Once in a while, engage your staff in fun activities together like annual excursions or dinner out for some job well done. If it's possible, you can reward your staff with an unexpected day off or early closing in a Friday.

- Offer incentives to the good worker

Offering incentives is a way of acknowledging a job well done. This can be in cash or in kind. Aside from the usual praise, you can offer small tokens of appreciation like gift certificates or performance-based bonuses.

- Be true to your promises.

Stick to your promises and your employees will feel motivated all the time. If they see that the people leading them are doing what has been promised, they would realize that they are working with a credible company and that they are lucky to be part of it. Remember that not keeping your promises would only translate to a decrease in employee motivation and eventual loss of trust.

There are many ways to improve employee motivation in your organization. All in all, it is all about being people-oriented and not losing sight of the fact that you need your staff to make your business successful.

Learn how to map out your path to success with comprehensive tools and guides to get your life back on track. Discover how to more effectively obtain personal, career or business goals and learn how to stay motivated right to the end

Wealth Building Habits and Tips

If you want to be successful, you need mentors or in other words find people that have succeeded. These people can include the ultra rich like Bill Gates or Warren Buffett, but don't forget about the people around you that have created good wealth building habits.

Some of the people have great advice and will need to be listened to very intently, while others need to be put on a list and never spoken to again. If you're going to be developing wealth building habits, you're going to need some advice from wealthy people. Let me make myself clear, when I'm talking about developing wealth building habits, I'm not talking about spiritual, knowledge, Biblical or religious wealth. I'm talking about making money, as much money as you desire or feel you need.

Wealth building habits start with you. Ask yourself this question "how bad do I want or desire wealth?" Really, really, really bad or are you the kind of person that would like to be rich, but that's as far as it goes. Developing any of these habits does not include sleeping in until 11 o'clock in the morning and then complaining the rest of the day about your finances.

Bill Gates used to work 16 hours a day. How many days a week did he do that? These are the questions you're going to find the answers to. If you're interested in making $50 million, you need to find someone who can teach you, how to make $50 million.

It won't be necessary to contact Warren Buffett but I would advise you to gather as much information about him as possible. Wealth building habits start with learning about wealthy people. If they get up at four o'clock in the morning and read the newspaper until six o'clock, then exercise for 30 minutes and start working at seven o'clock, you need to start doing this also. Developing good wealth building habits over time are what most successful businessman and women have been doing for years. Study their habits and start changing yours.

If you do something every day, it will usually become a habit within 30 days.

Dealing With Embarrassing Problem

The Wisemen Weren't Very Wise - Christianity

Here's a verse from Matthew in the New Testament, read this first and then I will explain why the wisemen weren't very wise.

"9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route."

The wisemen traveled great distances from around the world to see the new King. The star in the sky obviously pointed the way to his birthplace and when they saw him, they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, and incense and myrrh. It doesn't really say how much or what the value of these gifts was, but if I was to guess, it would've been around $1 trillion dollars. Okay that's pure speculation and let me get back to my point.

Here's the part I don't understand, if Jesus was born King of the Jews, how did we get Christianity. How come the Jewish faith didn't become stronger and more powerful with this newborn King. I know, there's probably all sorts of things you could say in Christianity's defense, like the Jews killed him or even the little dying on the cross incident, kind of put a damper on things, but the Jews lost there king and the wisemen disappeared, never to be heard of again.

Now if I was one of the wisemen or the Magi, I would have been smart enough to stay in contact with Jesus. I couldn't have e-mailed him but could have used the stars somehow to find him, like they did originally. If it were smart enough to use the star in the first place, he could have been found using the solar system a second time. Don't you think.

What it all comes down to, is this, if these Magi were so smart, why didn't they seek Jesus's advice or counsel in days to come. Why would they have given him these gifts, only to never be heard from again in the Bible. Another thing to think about on your religious path to spiritual enlightenment.

Oh by the way, what the heck did Jesus's parents do with the gifts.

Commentary on Real Religion

Swami Vivekananda presented the talk, Real Religion at the World's Parliament of Religions in 1893. With this speech, he introduced Vedanta (AKA Hinduism) to the West. It is more than 100 years later and the Christian West continues to struggle with the world's religions. This is a brief opportunity to comment on Vivekananda's speech.

"Religion does not consist in doctrines or dogmas." What simple and wise words. However, the religion of the West, Christianity, is devoted to its doctrines and dogmas. Doctrines about Christianity as the exclusive path to salvation are the roots of Christian evangelization and, sadly, of Christian intolerance. Such intolerance extends to the ends of the earth. The Catholic hierarchy, for example, sets its gaze upon every religious tradition and judges. The proselytizing view of the Catholic Church and all of Christianity, peruses its own house. In Catholicism, for example, Catholic theologians who dare to present theological arguments for salvation in religions other than Christianity are silenced, taken from teaching positions, indexed.

I agree with Vivekananda. Doctrine is not the same as the experience to which doctrine points. God-realization cannot be achieved by reading doctrines or encyclicals. The Christian Testament points to a reality that must be experienced. The purpose of the Gospels, for example, is to encourage faithful to embark on a journey home to God and to portray the unfathomable source of pure love that is God. But, the words are not the journey. "The raft is not the shore." If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him.

This does not mean that doctrines, dogma, sacred texts are disposable and without real spiritual value. I merely suggest that the source of strife among the peoples of the world is inordinate reliance upon religious teachings at the expense of emphasis upon an experience of God and the consequent comprehension of the interrelationship among all people and the cosmos.

For religious leaders in any religious traditions, why is it so incomprehensible to agree with Vivekananda: As soon as a man stands up and says he is right or his church is right and all others are wrong, he himself all wrong. Of course, in order to be consistent, I suppose I must admit that I could be wrong.

Guilt Feeding On Your Conscience

Breathing Your Troubles Away - The Way You Breathe Can Heal and Transform Your Life

The breath has the capacity to ease pain and soften tension. When you concentrate on breathing, your mind is able to gather together all its scattered energies. Your mind becomes much more focused, quiet, and clear. In fact, when you focus on your breathing, you are in the present, in the here and now. You are able to truly shift from one state of consciousness to another.

The Breath Moves Consciousness

Some great thinkers have actually said that the breath has the power to actually move matter and consciousness to new states of being. The breath is the life force.. When you focus on breathing, you focus on directing the life force within you This focuses and quiets your mind and helps you move energy. That's why it's so powerful to breathe into your difficulties. It moves them, shifts them, transforms them.

Rapid, Anxious Breathing

Notice your breathing when you feel anxious and uncentered. It's high up in your chest, and it's shallow and rapid. Some people feel as if their feet are going to leave the ground. Others break out into pronounced sweats. Rapid breathing and fear thoughts can create the perception of anxiety.

By breathing more deeply and bringing your breath down into your belly, you'll feel a greater sense of peace. You pay attention to what's bothering you, then breathe into your issues and breathe them out deeply transforms your life experiences.

Constricted Breathing

When you open and relax your breathing, you're able to release and transform old habits of mind with greater ease. The Buddha said, "Being sensitive to the whole body, the yogi breathes in; being sensitive to the whole body, the yogi breathes out."

When we inhale, the air comes into the inner world. When we exhale, the air goes out to the outer world. The inner world is limitless, and the outer world is also limitless. . . . Actually, there is just one whole world. -Shunryu Suzuki, The Enlightened Mind

The Genius Project - God's Mistake Or Yours?

If you've been reading my last few articles then you know about the Genius Project which was conducted by my good friend Mr. Jay Niblick. You'll also recall that your ability to achieve 5th Level of performance (Genius Level) you must rely on your natural talents and be authentic to yourself. This post addresses the thought processes on how geniuses view themselves and their abilities.

Here's another way to look at it. To assume that you - at your very core - need to fix yourself requires the presupposition that you must be broken, and that implies that God screwed up. I mean feel free to substitute whatever spiritual belief you have, but it likely doesn't change the concept. Think about it. If you believe that at your very core that the way you were made is insufficient to achieve success, then you have to admit that you view yourself as flawed, or at best incomplete. Now I'm not talking here about developing new acquired talents, rather a belief that "I need fixing". Acquiring new knowledge and experience is great. That's a prerequisite for anyone's success and something all 5th level performers (Geniuses) constantly do by the way. But when you attempt to fix who you are instead of fixing how you are, then you must first think who you are is insufficient. And if you think that then you can't avoid the question, "Who screwed up?"

If you need to fix anything, it is the way you apply you - not you!

In reality it's not what you are at your very core that needs work, but how you apply yourself that needs fixing. God created you for a purpose and you have a completely unique and incredibly powerful set of natural talents for that purpose, so it's not what raw materials you have to work with that you should be concerned with - because the geniuses we studied aren't. What you should be focused on is how you apply those raw materials.

Geniuses understand this. They don't view their set of talents as flawed; rather any flaws they see come in how they apply those talents. Because of this radically different perspective on themselves, when they focus on correcting flaws, those flaws are in their application of themselves, not themselves. In other words, they achieve tremendous leaps in performance by adjusting their environment (what they do or how they do it) not themselves. They don't change their talents; they change how those talents are applied.

Give yourself up to your inner genius and allow that which is you - as you were created - to do what it does best. Remember, regardless of whatever higher power you believe in, if you believe that such a higher power is infinitely more powerful and knowing then you, you have to ask yourself, "did that power know what it was doing when it created me?"

If you answer yes, then you can't blame your God for making you incorrectly? If you still agree with me then any mistakes in your life are not, cannot be, in you, but in the application of you. In other words, God made you, but you decide what to do with yourself. If a problem exists it's not with the thing God created, but how you apply it.

I say all of this because there is a huge difference between thinking you are broken and realizing that you are just not well aligned. The former is a race car with a blown engine that must be completely rebuilt (broken). The latter is a perfectly good Ferrari trying to race in an off-road rally (not well aligned).

Success in not about developing talent - it's about aligning it.

What Does God Care About

If I ask you to stop what you were doing, get a piece of paper and a pencil and draw a line down the center of the paper and on one side, write down what you think God cares about and on the other side write down things that you think he doesn't care about, would you do it? Make a list for yourself and then ask yourself, if your religious beliefs are on that list somewhere. As long as the side of the list is longer, about the things that God does care about, I guess everything is okay, isn't it.

If God doesn't care about starvation or hunger, I guess I can understand that. It would make more sense because in the real world, the world God created, it's survival of the fittest, right, wouldn't that be a true statement. The smartest people on the planet and the most educated, aggressive, goal oriented and religious believers seem to have the best lives and live in nice homes, don't they. I really never thought much about starvation but I guess God's plan is based around the strong will survive. I'm just thinking out loud here.

I wonder if God cares about people that are poor and uneducated? These are the meek and don't they inherit the kingdom of God, or am I missing something. Do you think poor people and uneducated people are suffering because God wants them to go to heaven only after they have suffered on earth. I can't really understand the concept of suffering on earth to receive rewards later after you're dead. Just doesn't make sense to me.

What do you think God really cares about? How will we ever know if we're right? If you believe in Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism or any other religion that believes in a deity, I guess you can open up a book and gather all the answers. This doesn't make much sense to me either.

Reading these scriptures can often lead to confusion if you're open-minded. Examining these scriptures a little closer can provide you with education. Educating your self on other religions can help you understand more of what God really does care about. I believe God does care about love and compassion, all gods.

If you want to read something funny and get your daily laugh in, you need to read this, it's funny Using Religion Responsibility. It's based on overindulgence.

Ferdinand De Saussure and Structuralism - From the Sausurrean Linguistic Turn to the Countercanons

When dealing with disciplines as multifaceted as linguistics and literature, we can always be reminded of the renowned fable of the three blind men, who come across an elephant. One touches a leg and says, 'Aha! An elephant is like a column'. Another touches the trunk and blurted out, 'No, an elephant is like a thick rope'. A third, touching a large ear, says, 'Oh, that can't be. An elephant is like a carpet'. Each laying a hand on only one part, but envisioned the whole in a different way. However, none was entirely erroneous in his perception, and yet none really fully grasp the idea of an elephant.

Ferdinand de Saussure laid down the terrain of linguistics by disregarding the 'human' aspect of language, which in this case is called the Speaking Subject for this is something that presented a heterogeneity that completely negated his purpose of establishing certain regularity in language. This is definitely an offshoot of the Saussurean school of thought that first established the demarcation line between the Speaking Subject (Parole) from the Language itself (La Langue). This concentrated the linguists' premium focus on looking for a system that homogeneously appears in language.

The language became more than just a tool for naming objects, but in a sense, it was freed from the invalid claims of being in the world of ideas before in the world of forms. The focal point of this claim lies in the structure and nature of language sans its limitless and sporadic anthropological underpinnings. In the same manner, semiology (which at the time was an unchartered field) became a springboard for more of his bold claims regarding the parameters that linguistics should come into play for 'the task of a linguist is to find out what makes language a special system within the mass of semiological data' available. The Saussurrean view gave an upper hand to language insofar as considering it a self-regulating social institution, which would eventually mean that it holds power over us. As deterministic and restricting as it may sound, for de Saussure, language is a system that governs our society for it affirms human communities and consequently, subjugates the one that binds us all-human communication.

No one can deny that the Saussurean theory spoke a language that goes beyond its years. Looking at how Saussure's linguistic structuralism was entrenched onto the literary criticism is just an indication of how this particular work has made an indelible mark in the intellectual and academic field, and how it was able to transcend other disciplines. This made a sudden pendulum swing from the inclusion of various outside sources (other than the text itself) espoused by the Classicist to the text-centered movement as supported by his strong declaration of the power of language and its signifier-signified relationship. Though in the present, formalism is considered to be stale and is less likely used in ascertaining sound literary interpretation, the new light that it served to literary criticism brought forth more ways to read and unearth the meanings of texts. It opened the doors for a more serious look on critical reading and interpretation, which was freed from the shackles of the inaccurate reliance on the interpretation of the writer.

Like the dethroning of an existing rule of thumb, the "death of the author" clears the text of outside influences ushering in the long-awaited "birth of the reader." The definitive aspect of this offshoot from the linguistic to its literary implications lie in its stable arguments that cover most part of the critical points of language that haven't been given framework before. The shying away from the Platonic standpoint on language gave a great deal of rooms for more discoveries about the complexities and intricacies of language. Moreover, since language and literature are staple partners in affirming humanity, I think it is but proper for Ferdinand de Saussure's work to be a springboard for such Structuralist orientation in literature.

Christian Fitness - Should it Include Yoga?

Yoga is extremely popular in the fitness world, and many wonder if it has a place in Christian Fitness. Is there such a thing as "Christian yoga" or a "Christian alternative to yoga?" While many know that yoga originated in India, few realize it is part of the Hindu religion.

Those who think yoga is little more than a series of stress-relieving stretching exercises may be surprised to learn about true foundation of the multi-billion dollar yoga craze in North America.

According to Webster's New World Dictionary, yoga (coming from an east Indian Sanskrit word which means "union with god" or "to yoke") is "a mystic and ascetic Hindu discipline for achieving union with the supreme spirit through meditation, prescribed postures, controlled breathing, etc."

As a child growing up on Long Island, I became involved with yoga at the age of seven when my mother and I began watching a daily yoga exercise program on television (thinking it was "just exercise"). For the next 22 years I was heavily involved with yoga, metaphysics and the New Age movement until I became a follower of Jesus Christ in my late 20s.

George P. Alexander, Ph.D., who taught World Religions at Biola University, is a friend of our family. Born in Sri Lanka, George grew up in India, the birthplace of Hinduism and yoga. He told us that yoga postures are actually offerings to the 330 million Hindu gods.

"Many Westerners who practice yoga today are unaware that the physical positions assumed in yoga symbolize a spiritual act: worshiping one of the many Hindu gods," Dr. Alexander said. "To a Hindu, yoga is the outward physical expression of a deep spiritual belief. You cannot separate one from the other."

Since yoga is tied so strongly to Hinduism, can there be such a thing as "Christian yoga," or would that be an oxymoron (a contradiction in terms)? Many practicing Hindus as well as Christians agree that since yoga IS Hinduism, the two cannot be combined.

Are there other ways to bring flexibility training into a Christian's fitness program without doing yoga? Yes! There are plain vanilla stretching courses as well as Christian alternatives to yoga which incorporate stretching exercises with Scripture. Practitioners meditate upon Scripture or speak verses aloud which correspond with each stretching posture. For example, in PraiseMoves, a Christian alternative to yoga, "The Angel" posture is accompanied by Psalm 91:11, "For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways."

As Dr. Alexander told us, "My question for Christians who practice yoga is, 'Why would you want to better your body by aligning with a religious philosophy that contradicts the Christian faith?'" Good question.

Powerful Beliefs In The Bible

Hello Heartbreak - It's Good to See You

How many times have you endured a broken heart and then realized some years later that underneath that loss was a blessing waiting to be born? How many times have you cried yourself to sleep because a lover chose to say goodbye? How often has the sky lost its brilliance because your heart was heavy with sadness?

Heartbreak is a loss. It's a tragedy not unlike so many others. Hearts are broken everyday of every hour of the year. People who once claimed one another through commitment have suddenly become estranged. What had been paradise is now unrecognizable.

Unlike some other losses in life, tragedies of the heart are losses that can be good although at the time they look and feel very bad. For example, you may have thought that Joe, the Plummer, was the man for you but after running into him a year later, you were at a loss as to what it was you saw in him or felt for him. And what about the person you ended up with verses the ones you dated before you found your life mate? Don't you just look back and think, Oh my God, was I that desperate or just a little slow to get it?

Well, now you're here... back again, on your knees pulling at the carpet on your living room floor and, begging the air that both you and I breathe that favorite one word plea and demand of, "WHY!" If anybody really ever knew why, we'd probably all be celebrating most of the time. When it comes to loving another romantically, there is a lot of room for feelings to fluctuate, especially when two people are apart. We cry and moan because we refuse to let go of what we had. We refuse the change. And as a result, we refuse the bigger blessings that are in store down the road.

Yeah, sometimes love sucks. It's sad. It hurts like mad. But then sometimes it's necessary. And when the heaviness begins to recede, you start to notice the sky again and the birds, who have been singing to you all along. Slowly, and overtime you let the pain go and accept the loss. You then enter a new beginning ... one full of hope, love, and life.

Breakups, heartbreaks, and heartaches have gotten a bad rap over the years as something to be avoided at all costs, even if it costs you your sanity, peace, or life. Every heart broken is a breakthrough to something greater if you allow it.

Next time your heart is broken welcome its arrival although you may be opposed to it at first. Your love is your friend and your experiences are your lessons. The Magic of Love uncovers Miracles where you least expect them. So, do yourself a favor this time and say, Hello Heartbreak ... It's Good to See You.

Believe That You Can by Jentezen Franklin

The Power of An Unforgettable Dream

Jentezen Franklin, New York Times best selling author, shows how a dream, or vision, is nurtured when you "Believe That You Can." Franklin's writing models the passion, zeal, and holy fire that he challenges his readers to practice.

Illustrations from the lives of Abraham, Moses, Joseph, and others from the Old and New Testaments illustrate how God's timing and His purposes come to fruition. These men and women acknowledged their vision, were true to their dream, recognized their destiny and moved into God's appointed time and place to take part in His Kingdom harvest.

Jentezen uses examples drawn from his own experiences and stories from contemporary champions of the faith to reinforce the relevance of resolutely moving toward a God given dream.

Franklin exemplifies the authority of words in his writing. He communicates a message that calls for envisioning a specific dream, and then following the process and stages needed to see that dream fulfilled.

Each chapter includes a quick review. These summary statements or questions often include suggestions for written assignments. The written exercises guide the reader into formulating action steps for maintaining their vision, their dream, and for pursuing their destiny. I found these suggestions helpful in honing in on my own dream, asking God to fulfill the His destiny for me.

"Believe That You Can" is motivational and inspirational, however it is more that that. It is anointed. This is a book for dreamers, for visionaries, for the shy and for the bold. As the cover reads, "It's time to make it Happen! Moving with TENACITY toward the DREAM GOD has given you."

Structuring Your 24 Hour Day

We Are Connected to the World and Each Other - We Are All One

What if we realized that no matter how down we felt, we were assured that we are not alone, not separate, not all by ourselves, but part of something larger? We are connected to the world; all is one. While that might not provide any immediate or definable solace, the idea promotes a long term sense of security, a sense that whatever happens, we are never disconnected. We are never really alone.

A bond with everything in life. On a practical, daily basis, might we be happier? Most often moments of sadness relate to a belief in isolation from someone or something. If there is no separation, despite a seeming physical one, the sadness lessens. If there is no separation, why would we continue a deep sense of feeling abandoned?

One aspect of being connected is we learn to love ourselves. There is no judgment from the universe, only from us. There is no worth involved; we are part of the universe, and we don't have to earn a place in it. Religions teach us sin, guilt and repentance. In a new spiritual guide, we lose the judgmental language and thoughts. As humans, we have free choice; that creates our differences. But inherently, we are never bad.

Think about people we dislike or those with whom we are angry. If all are one, then they represent some part of us. We are mad at something within us, or we are refusing to forgive an aspect of ourselves. We are connected to others, whether we like it or not.

In forgiving others, we forgive ourselves. We belong to a larger picture. No one is a separate entity flung out by itself. If we are not ostracized, as at times we assume, then we can accept ourselves, which is the start of feeling linked. And we can begin to truly love ourselves, a crucial piece of feeling connected.

Whatever bothers us about others is related to an aspect within. I find myself critical of intolerant people. That position is not justified, showing that I am being intolerant, that very trait I don't like in others. Being intolerant of intolerance is still intolerance. In looking at our annoyances of others, we begin to understand ourselves better. In doing that, we can be more forgiving of others. And then we can be more forgiving of ourselves.

Whatever we admire in others is also a part of us. This is the positive side that tends to get lost as we dwell on the negatives. Those virtues of others that we really like are also aspects of ourselves. Look around and see the qualities in others that you most like. Then look at yourself and see that those virtues exist within you. We are often better than we believe. Dwelling on the positive is a good approach.

Yes, we do obsess on traits of others we don't want to see in ourselves. But remember the opposite. The qualities, potential and/or abilities we are attracted to in others are also a part of us. This allows us to find our alienated self and honor that in order to become the better person we really are.

If we want to be connected to the loving world around us, if we want to feel more closely connected to a higher source, we must feel worthy of that connection. Remember that we don't do bad things because we are bad; we do bad things because we think we're bad. If we are good, truly good, and if we believe we are worthy, might our actions be different?

What if we treat all others, people, animals and the earth itself with more respect since each one represents a part of us.? Might we be kinder to ourselves? Perhaps that is our goal.

One God, Many Names Or Many Gods, One Name?

It is said in ancient Indian scriptures that each individual is a representation of the universe. This wisdom is stated as "Aham Brahmiasmi" (I am the Universe) which means that in each person lies something of everything. There is no emotion which we can not feel. There is no situation which we can envisage purely from our imagination. All knowledge of this world has been created in the mind of some individual which he revealed to the world.

It is, therefore, often said that the world is nothing but a reflection of our own self. World is like a mirror where we see our images. However, like a child, we presume that we are seeing another person in the mirror while in reality the image is nothing but us. The image moves as we moves and waves when we waves. However, as we grow in life, we learn that the image is nothing but our own self. The importance of image continues as a mirror continues to be the only method to know the truth about our physical self in the most accurate and unbiased manner. A spiritually awakened person knows that world is nothing but the mirror of self. Hence the only way to change the world is to change oneself.

However, most of us believe that world is different than us which lies outside us. This is true scientifically and physically but farthest from the truth philosophically. The proof of the cake lies in the pudding. You have to only open your eyes of reason to know the truth yourself. If you are bad, you would see the world as bad and if you are good you find the world good. We find the world extremely lovely when we are in love or in a good mood. However, when we are gripped in pessimism and hatred, we find the world similar to our state of being.

It is for this reason that when we ask the opinion of several people on the same situation or the same person we get as many opinions. It is because each person is different and everyone see his image in the person or situation. An interesting experiment was done to establish this same point.

An Experiment with a Difference

In one experiment, a group of people were asked to respond to the concept of beauty. They were asked to sit around a conference table. Each person was given the photograph of a girl named "Rita". They were asked to have a look of her for few seconds and then return the photograph to the organizers. Then they were asked if the girl in the photograph was beautiful. They were also asked to justify the reasons for their judgment. There were two judges, who have to award the person giving best reasons for explaining beauty.

However, when the discussion started it was found that each person sitting on one side of the table said that the Rita was extremely beautiful girl while all people on the other side sated that Rita was not beautiful. Each person had their own argument to prove his point and each person stick to their point. The judges were surprised as they never expected such strong difference of opinion about the beauty of a girl.

The mistake was soon discovered when it was found that by mistake the organizers have given two different photographs of two different girls both names "Rita". One Rita was beautiful while the other was not. The difference of opinion was not due to any subjectivity on the understanding of beauty but due to the fact that the participants were talking about two different persons.

This experiment explains that before arguing a case, one must ensure that the facts are right. If two people are talking about two different people who incidentally have the same name, there is no possibility that they can ever come to a conclusion.

This seems to be the main reason why people are fighting in the name of God all over the world as there is no one God. They are merely given same name in English language.

Many Gods- One Name

There is no doubt that there can be one and only one God in the universe. There can not be many Creators in this world. The concept of creator and sustainer of the universe has been developed by human minds over a period of thousands of years in different part of this world. Each society imagined God in their unique way and gave Him a unique name. If God is called Yahweh by Jews, He is knows as Christ to Christians and Allah to Muslims. These three religions of Abraham have the same prophets and their scriptures describe the same God, yet are they same?

Hinduism, the oldest religion of the world, too evolved over period of time. It has discovered many Gods over a period of time. Vedic scriptures describe many God like Indra, Varun, Fire, Brahaspati, Krishna, Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma. All Gods have different names and description. Gradually the concept of Absolute God or Brahma was established in the time of Upanishads and it was believed that Brahma is beyond for and imagination of human mind and all Gods are actually the manifestation of Brahma. Gradually some Gods were given lower status and some higher one. The three Gods which are given the top status in Hinduism in the modern times are called Trinity of God viz. Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva (Mahesh). Brahma is the God of creation, Vishnu the God of Sustenance and Shiva the God of destruction.

Yet in the modern times, when the whole world has come very close to each other and the people of different cultures and religions are working together in the same society and also getting married to people of different religions, the world God is used to represent the Gods of all religions.

Yet when the name of God is uttered, each person is likely to view a different image of God in his imagination. The world may be same but the God as known to different people is really totally different. They were just given same name in English.

Indian in their typical culture of synergy and assimilation tries to believe that all Gods are One and that they are merely known by different names. The favourite bhajan (religious song) sung by Gandhi was,

Ishwar All Tero Nam
Sabko Sanmati De Bhagawan.

Iswar (Hindu name of God) and Allah (Muslim Name of God) are Thy Name,
Give this wisdom to every one.

The secular scholars try to resolve the issue by giving another analogy. They say that just like a person is known by different names (designations) to different persons (like father, son, uncle, etc) same is true with God. All religions actually speak of the same God who is merely referred by different names in different religion.

Nothing can be farther from the Truth. Even the God as described in Torah (Old Testament), Bible and Quoran are not same. If Old Testament God says, "Eye for Eye", Jesus asked people to "turn the other cheek". The God of Quoran is quite critical of both Jews and Christian. The God of Hinduism are totally different than the God described in Books. Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva are themselves quite different and they have little in common with Allah, Christ or Yahweh.

Thus it is extremely difficult for people to accept that there is only one God unless attempts are made to find the common meeting grounds between all religions and to prove in simple language the common truth between all religions.

The Common Truth of All Religions

Though there are numerous religions which all describes God in different way, yet the soul or essence of all religions are the same. The main difference lies in the procedures (rituals) and the implementation. While Abraham religions have carrot and stick policy i.e. to reward the good and punish the evil, the Eastern religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism or Sikhism motivates the people to be spiritual as it is good for them. Thus an eastern religion does not prescribe any punishment, if a person does not believe or follow some rituals.

However the fundamental knowledge of all religions are same which can be broadly summarized as following:

Man is an spiritual animal. He can not live for bread alone.
Believe in God as without Faith in God or Supreme, man can not get lasting peace or happiness
God is present in every being. So love all beings and do service to His creation is service to God
Every person has to reap what he sows. Hence good means are necessary for good ends.
God is loving and compassionate. Thus man can always reform himself from evil path and become good.
Actions like prayer and rituals are necessary for transformation of man to become spiritual.
God is all merciful and kind. So forgive others and be kind to others.

God is Universal

It is remarkable that though the concept of God has been developed in different part of the world at different time, yet all concepts of God have many common truths. There are also many differences in religions yet these are merely in body and not on soul. However, to understand real God one has to transact from the words of the scriptures to the spirit of the scriptures which is same for all religions.

The Amazing Power of Personal Prayer

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 & 3 Nephi 14:7-8

What do I pray for?

ANYTHING!

So long as it is good, you can pray for anything! The well being of your friends and family, to find a job, to pass exams, for health, wealth, safety, comfort, inspiration, direction, to find a partner, more intelligence, more love, to receive answers to questions you are unsure of.
The list really is endless. Prayer is also the perfect opportunity to express gratitude!
You can gain anything you need from prayer, and the best thing is its free and lines are open 24/7.

How do I pray?

If you have never prayed before, don't worry, today is a good day to start. Whether you believe in God or not, you can still pray. All world religions teach some form of prayer. I know many people who do not believe in God but sometimes when they have nowhere else to turn they resort to prayer. Prayer is available to everyone and is effective always.

1. Step one is to ADDRESS who are praying to. A Christian may say Dear god. A Muslim may call upon Allah. It's different for different people. For me, I have always used "Dear Heavenly Father". It is down to you though, whatever feels comfortable.

Before posting a letter, you would need to write a name and address first, otherwise the chances of your communication being received by that whom you intended it for, would be very slim. The same principle applies for prayer.

2. Step two is to THANK. Be grateful, list and thank for all the things which you have received already. If you do not feel you have anything, start off small. Look around you, your bed is a comfortable place to sleep; do you take that for granted? Not everyone has a warm bed to sleep in at night. Your mobile phone perhaps? Pretty handy, you can stay in touch with people who may be miles away. A book you have been reading, a friend who gave you good advice, a stranger who smiled, again the list is endless. What will happen is your eyes will suddenly be open to how much you do already have!

If someone had supplied you with many gifts, surely you would say thanks, before you asked for more? Of course you would, with this done and an attitude of gratitude in your heart you are ready to ask for more.

3. Step three is to ASK. Don't be shy! Ask for what you need. The universe is made of abundance. There is enough for everyone. Whatever it is you desire, it's out there already, waiting for you to make your claim. If its answers you need, there is someone who knows and is ready to supply the answer. If it's an opportunity, one will open up.

Pray on behalf of others and all the things they stand in need of too.

4. End the prayer. Some say amen. For me, I say "In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen"
But again, I am not here to preach, it's your choice, just make sure you end the prayer in faith and a spirit of expectancy.

TIPS TO REMEMBER

Believe! Believe that your prayer is being heard and will be answered.

Pray every day! Morning and night. Pray as and when new situations arise.

Keep a prayer in your heart consistently.

If you get the urge, do It and do It Now! Trust your instincts, if you feel something prompting you to pray, just go with it, even you don't understand why at the time.

If you feel a resistance to pray, fight it! Do it anyway, you will feel glad you did.

As well as your prayers, practice autosuggestion. Autosuggestion is a form of informal prayer.

Meditate. Especially when seeking answers. Listen out for the answers. They will come, I assure you. Ponder the meaning of your answers.

Pray out loud

Pray in private. Let your inner most thoughts and feelings be known. Sometimes a solitary, quiet place outside or just your bedroom is fine.

If you are feeling skeptical, just try it what do you have to lose? I am confident, that you will discover that it works.

I know praying works. I have had it work many, many times, too often to number.

Getting Up Earlier

Reading the Bible Can Change Your Life

Most people read the Bible as a sense of comfort and out of obligation. Some of them believe that, the more they read the Bible, the better their chances are of getting into heaven. Some of them believe that by reading the Bible, they will gain some insight and wisdom and this will allow them to become better Christians.

But of course there are people that read the Bible, looking for answers to important questions, life-changing questions. I have been reading the Bible, off and on for years, but have never completed or read the whole Bible. I have my favorite stories like Job, Proverbs and of course everyone's favorite, the end of the world, Revelations. I have probably listened to the book of revelations on audio about 10 times.

Studying Christianity for over 30 years has shed very little light on this religion, but has had an enormous impact on my life. The more that I learn about the holy Bible, the harder it is for me to agree with your average Christian. Don't get confused here, I have found other problems with major religions throughout the world.

Here is what I have found to be true, if you truly want to believe in your religion, you will find every thing that you're looking for. If you think or know that the Nation of Islam is the only true religion in the world, you will find evidence to prove and justify your decision. This evidence will come to you on a daily basis if you're looking hard enough.

A better understanding of your religion or your religious text will not always show you the truth. You could be misled for years as you accept answers to questions that don't make sense to you entirely. If you're truly desiring to seek another point of view, read some more of my articles.

Religious Fundamentalism Can Create Problems

Religious groups can easily justify their actions by using religious text to benefit and promote their beliefs. The Muslims can sling quotes out of the Quran to justify their treatment towards women as second-class or even third class citizens in society, often removing certain rights from them because they weren't born men.

Shouldn't these women be treated equally. This is where religious fundamentalism evolves into religious fanaticism.

Christians can often use the same tactics to justify their beliefs and Christianity. This list goes on and on and has created hardships in the past on some people in our civilizations and will continue to do so in the future. As long as people continue to turn a blind eye to evil religious and government leaders, atrocities will take place and some of them will even be supported by those who eventually will become accused are victims of their own wrongdoings.

Does anyone remember the Ku Klux Klan? If you live in the south eastern part of the United States, there is a very good chance that you have heard of them or even know someone who belongs to this organization. The Ku Klux Klan was responsible for hanging African Americans throughout the early 1900s to prove that the white race was superior to the race of black people. Their religious beliefs fueled them with righteousness.

If this going on anywhere in the world today, may be issues about abortion or gay marriage. It seems like an oxymoron, if we allow gay people to get married, we won't have to worry about the abortion issue.

Some Christians, but most Americans look at this as a shameful part of our American heritage. It's not something that most Americans would ever support today. I would like to point something out about the Ku Klux Klan, they started out as a Christian organization and made examples out of other white people who weren't conforming to their ideal Christian society.

There are stories of people that abused their wives and the Ku Klux Klan set them straight, one way or another. If it required beating the crap out of them or killing them, something needed to be done and they are morally obligated to perform the task as Christians. These people took their Christian beliefs to an extreme.

When are we as a country and the world going to start fighting religious fundamentalism at its core and stop the atrocities that are going on today, using religion to justify their wrongdoings.

Wealth Affirmations - Use Affirmations to Enhance Your Finances

Are you aware of how wealth affirmations work? There is no real difference from other affirmations on happiness, love, health or other subjects. What is really comes down to is what the subject of your affirmation is and what your expectancy level is surrounding the process. The idea of affirming something until it becomes true is not that foreign of a concept as you have probably done so many times already in your life but maybe called it something else. This article will focus on how to use wealth affirmations to your greatest benefit.

How They Work

Before we can get into a discussion of the subject we need to address how affirmations work. To put it simply we have one mind that has two phases to it. A conscious mind that we are aware of and a subconscious mind that we are not aware of but is always active as long as we are alive. The subconscious is responsible for the autonomous system of the body and controls things like beating your heart and breathing. Things that would be fatal if we FORGOT to think about at some point in time.

The idea of affirmations is to create a new habit of thinking in the subconscious that will replace an existing habit of thinking that is not to our liking. This is usually accomplished through making a suggestion repetitively with strong emotion. Once this makes it past the conscious mind it will start taking root in the subconscious. A god analogy is the effort required to plant a flower among weeds. You will have to maintain a conscious vigilance in cutting the weeds down while at the same time feeding the flower until it starts to branch it's own roots out. Of course habits of thinking control habits of action right? This is the power of affirmations.

But we also need to be a little realistic about the power of all of this. Repeating to yourself a thousand times a day just may enhance your ability to win a lottery but wouldn't a more judicious use of the time be to make sure you are becoming aware of the wealth producing ideas that are around us each day but we fail to act on because our minds aren't in the right state. In my opinion that is a much more effective use of wealth affirmations.

In short the process is really about getting you motivated to take action when you otherwise wouldn't have. What would you say if I introduced you to a technology that could assist you in creating and implementing affirmations on a daily basis until they became that new positive habit you wanted?
